Germany, a fast growing market for organic products

Date de publication: 07 septembre 2022

At the invitation of the German cooperation, Confirel and several other companies of the agro-industrial sector of the kingdom participated a few weeks ago in a business trip to Germany, the highlight of which was the BioFach fair in Nuremberg.

While the Covid-19 pandemic has strongly stimulated in Germany demand for products with solid guarantees for consumer health, competition is extremely fierce on the organic market where products are on average 30% more expensive than conventional products. Breaking into this market is a real challenge for exporters, especially because of the cost of certification.

With Kirum herbal tea made from Kampot pepper inflorescences and Thnot mango rolls as its flagship products, Confirel has been able to take advantage of the great diversity of its products, most of which are exclusive creations, to open up new commercial opportunities in a country that is very demanding on quality, both in terms of the product itself and its packaging.

“Our Confirel concept is well received and our product portfolio has been noticed for its innovative character and its wealth of novelties,” said Sakett Sophaseila on his return from Germany where he represented the company.  As a result, promising links have been initiated with several important players in the German organic market, whether wholesalers, retailers or processors. From Kampot pepper, Kirum sauce or vinegar for condiments, to organic palm sugar and mango rolls for sweets, the range of Confirel products has hit the spot.

This first “physical” approach of the German market will of course not stop there for Confirel. On the one hand, the virtual platform of BioFach will remain open until August 2023 and, through it, buyers and exporters can still have access to Confirel products. On the other hand, the company will continue to work with the German import promotion office so that it can introduce Confirel to potential buyers and promote Cambodian products.
